Purple Poppy Flower Pops at Zazzle

I've had a rather fun day and it tops off with a first sale from my Zazzle Gallery! Just earlier this evening I was contemplating how cool it would be to pair up a matching T-Shirt with shoes from my Zazzle Gallery. Low and behold I received a notice that someone purchased a pair of the exact same shoes I was thinking of in my fashion fantasy! I'm happy for the buyer -- I really am because I think they are seriously cool shoes; with purple & green poppy flower blossoms decked with rain drops. I personally can't wear this type of shoe because of the way my feet were born, so it's sort of special & ironic for me to design shoes! :) The Keds look so comfortable and Zazzle makes it fun to work out a bitchin' design! I'd LOVE it if the buyer would take a snap shot of their pretty little paws wrapped in my design to share with us all to see! When I design, shoes especially, I create what I'd like to wear or see myself, so I really hope the buyer is happy when the final product arrives!

I adore this flower too; a favorite from my own garden. The seeds were given to me in trade for other garden seeds 3000 miles away from where I'm located now. The plant produces two types of blooms; not being a botany expert, I can only guess that one is male and the other a female flower. The male has 5 or 6 petals with a fat neon green center like a space ship, and the female produces a large ruffle of petals with various shapes that doesn't expose that fat green center until the petals fall. I've drawn, painted, and photographed this flower more than any other.

One of my favorite memories involving this flower stems back to my first year garden bloom. I was living in Hoquiam, Washington and my husband had sculpted a charming garden in the front yard of our 100+ year old shack. :) I couldn't resist the temptation that Spring to set up an easel in the front yard to capture the awesome flowers. I was working on a watercolor pencil piece of the purple poppy while passersby watched in wonder -- I felt soooo artistic-ie with such an audience! At one point a police officer was slowly passing by on his regular rounds. He was so caught up in watching what I was doing that he almost ran off the road into a telephone pole! Thankfully he was alright, though the grass was a bit worse for wear, and later he came back to see the painting. That piece will stay in my personal collection always, I must say. I just love the soft, but rich colors of this plant, with or without bloom.

I fear I could go on for far too long about this garden delight, so I end by inviting you all to take a look for yourselves at the foot wear product I created from this most spiritually purple flower; see my Zazzle gallery below. Let your mind grow and your Spirit will blossom!
